Directions from the airport to the main Dejvice campus

Prague’s Václav Havel Airport is located 15 km west of the city centre. There are banks and ATMs for getting Czech cash (7:00 – 23:00 daily), a pharmacy and a Billa supermarket, among other convenience stores. The exchange offices at the airport offer a poor exchange rate. You can make your way from the airport to the main Dejvice campus by city bus which is recommended. Taxis are available of course.

You can make your way to CTU’s campus in a taxi, but a cheaper mode of transportation is the no. 59 trolley bus, which brings passengers from the airport to Nádraží Veleslavín metro station (line A). From there, take the metro to Dejvická or, if you are heading to the Masarykova dorm, take tram 20 or 26 to Thákurova tram stop, which is adjacent to the dormitory. The 30-minute ticket costs only CZK 30 and is valid for the bus, metro, and tram. Buy it in advance from a booth or from the yellow ticket machine and validate it in the little yellow box before boarding public transportation. . The service is very frequent, and the travel time to the main Dejvice campus is less than 30 minutes.

Directions from railway stations to main Dejvice campus

Passengers travelling to Prague by train usually arrive at Hlavní nádraží (Main Station). It is on line C of the metro system and offers a number of services, including money exchange and a luggage-storage area. The main Dejvice campus is located near Dejvická metro station. Take the metro to Muzeum station and then transfer to line A (green). Dejvická is the fifth stop on line A towards Nemocnice Motol.

Best time to arrive

To avoid inconveniences for everyone involved, it is strongly recommended that you book your ticket to arrive on a weekday during regular office hours of 8:00 to 16:00. If you arrive during the weekend or late in the evening/early in the morning, you will have difficulty finding any university staff. If you arrive by train, please specify which station and remain on the platform until you are met (It is difficult to locate you after you have left the platform). If the rendez-vous is unsuccessful, phone your contact person or the international office: 22435 3466 (22435 3467, 22435 3465). If all else fails, you can find reasonably priced accommodation through the offices at the main railway station (Hlavní nádraží). The luggage storage office at the main station is also a safe and inexpensive place to leave your belongings.
